GroupTasks Installation
GroupTasks requires the .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package to run. If you use Windows Vista, the Framework is already installed. If you have internet access on the computer where you want to install GroupTasks, GroupTasks will dowload .NET for you automatically. The download size of .NET is about 20 MB. If you don't have internet access on the installation computer you can download .NET from here:
www.microsoft.com/downloads
. In this case, please install .NET prior to installing GroupTasks.
Here you can download GroupTasks:
www.johnshope.net/grouptasks
Run the downloaded GroupTasks Installer. After accepting the license agreement, choose an installation directory. It might be that you are asked if you want to install GroupTasks for all users or just for yourself. If you started the GroupTasks installer as an administrator on a machine where you normally work on a non-administrator account, then you should install GroupTasks for all users (otherwise GroupTasks gets installed for the administrator only). If you have started the installer with your own account you can install GroupTasks just for your own account.
After successfull installation of GroupTasks go to the Startmenu and start GroupTasks in the
Autostart
folder. In the System-Tray the GroupTasks symbol
will show up. Right click on the GroupTasks symbol and select
Options...
from the Menu. The following dialogbox appears:
Click on the button at the right top with the folder icon, and choose a common network folder, that lies on a network server and that is accessible for all GroupTasks users. In this folder all the information about the shared group tasks will be saved. In order that all users get informed about changes in the tasks, all users must set this option to the same folder and the folder must lie on a NTFS partition on a network server. (FAT32 partitions don't work with GroupTasks)
Additionally you can set a password here, the following window will show up:
In the current version of GroupTasks the password is not needed. If you enter the password field for the first time you can leave the field
Old password
blank.
